Heinrich Gugerli studied civil engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich and was awarded his PhD from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, U.S.A. In Switzerland he worked as a consultant and researcher for energy efficiency and green building. In 1999, Heinrich joined the Zurich City Building Department where he took over the management of the newly established Sustainable Building Group. From 2014 to 2017 he managed the 2000-Watt Site programme in Switzerland on behalf of the SFOE. Heinrich is also Ambassador of 2000-Watt Smart Cities.
